SHIRT MAKING: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SINGLE-PLY AND TWO-PLY FABRIC
The cotton used in all shirting fabrics is carded, combed, and made from extra-long staple fibers. However, you can choose between single-ply and double-ply cotton. The difference is that double-ply cotton is a softer and more durable fabric due to its structure.
TAILORING: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUPER 100 AND SUPER 120 FABRIC
The word " SUPER " on a wool suit's label indicates the fineness of the wool used in its manufacture . Fiber fineness is one of the factors that determine the quality and performance of wool; the higher the number, the finer the yarn and therefore the higher the quality of the wool. This translates into greater softness, adaptability, and flexibility.
WHAT IS THE HALF CANVAS PROCESS
This refers to the manufacturing process of the blazer. Canvas means interlining and is the inner piece that occupies the space between the front of the blazer and the lining . It is a crucial piece in the structure of this garment. In tailoring, interlining is made from horsehair fabric blended with cotton or linen, materials that offer unparalleled comfort, durability, flexibility, and appearance compared to the results obtained with the heat-sealed interlining process, the most widespread and commonly used in standard garment making. At Sirpool, we do not use the heat-sealed process ; all our blazers are made with half-canvas, a step that increases the price of the garment due to the quality of the materials and because it is done by hand, but which more than compensates for the aesthetic, durability, and comfort benefits.
